Recently the San Diego region was named the second most desirable area to live. And no wonder, with our mild climate, sandy beaches, beautiful mountains and breath taking deserts, the San Diego region offers the best of the natural environment with the greatest biological diversity in the nation.

Since 1948 when the Chapter was founded, we have been active in the preservation of San Diego and Imperial Counties’ environment. From efforts by members to enlist public support for conservation programs such as preserving the Torrey Pine in 1948 and the prevention of power lines invading Anza-Borrego Desert State Park in 2008, to efforts to change the business-as-usual approach to widening freeways and poorly-performing transit, the San Diego Chapter has played a major role in the welfare of our communities by representing our vision for San Diego - clean air and water, abundant wildlife, and protected special places while promoting livable, walkable, and workable communities.
